"Boots" (1969)
This environmental installation, created in collaboration with Georgette Batlle, Gerard Marx and Joshua Neustein, was displayed at the Jerusalem Artists House. The work featured approximately 15,000 used army boots, weighing a total of seven tons, scattered in heaps on the top floor of the venue. The installation carried multiple layers of meaning, including antimilitaristic connotations that evoked images of Egyptian soldiers fleeing during the Six Day War and tragic reminders of the Holocaust, resembling the piles of personal belongings at Auschwitz. An audio track of muffled footsteps, created by Gerard Marx, further enhanced the installation's impact.
